Often, employers just think of the Americans with Disabilities Act as just another law that must be followed. While legal compliance is important, that is only a small part of the picture. The ADA is about creating a responsive vibrant work environment and tapping into an underused talent pool for employers in workers with disabilities. Joe Zesski, the New Jersey affiliate of the Northeast ADA, will present this one hour workshop as part of a larger conference by the DAWN Center for Independent Living on workforce inclusion. Employing Workers with Disabilities; the Business Advantage will focus on the rights and responsibilities of employers under Title I of the ADA, the talent pool that is made up of people with disabilities, and the resources available to employers to assist them in hiring and retaining workers with disabilities.
Through the use of PowerPoint, lecture and written materials, participants will gain information that will assist SSDI beneficiaries who wish to return to work at any level of activity. Proper planning and information is critical to this effort and participants will gain the knowledge necessary to help ease this transition. Online polling will be used to test participant knowledge. A preparatory reading assignment will be provided and is required.
