In 2004, the City of New York Department of Small Business Services was awarded a two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to improve the physical and programmatic accessibility of its Workforce 1 Career Centers. Cornell University's Employment and Disability Institute provides training and technical support to each Career Center through the use of the Universal Access-NY web site.
Cornell University's Program on Employment and Disability provides training and technical assistance to New York City's Workforce1 Career Centers through the following
Facilitator Training: Team facilitators are trained on the use of the Universal Access-NY web site.
Follow-up Technical Assistance: On-site technical assistance is provided to each Workforce1 Career Center.
Reports and Online Help: Career Center enter information into the Universal Access-NY site, which in turn is used to help guide decision-making and resource allocation.
