Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo
WORK HIGHLIGHTS

• Examined New York’s lead poisoning prevalence and the sources of lead exposure in New York State.

• Researched a proposal for New York State to take over administration and enforcement of the RRP rule, requiring lead-safe work practices during renovation, repair and painting (RRP), since the EPA currently lacks the resources for strong enforcement.

• Conducted interviews with stakeholders and other states who manage their own RRP programs to determine the costs and benefits of state programs and learn best practices.

• Summarized a recommendation for New York State to take over the RRP rule and analyzed the costs and benefits.
