What Did You Work On: This summer I worked with Senator Ryan's office to compile a report on the refugee and secondary migrant population in Buffalo. I interviewed about 15 different offices related to the new American community in Buffalo to learn about the existing services for refugees, and what can be improved. I then proposed my research findings to Senator Ryan in hopes of passing policy to support refugees in New York state.
Summer Takeaway: My most meaningful takeaway is that talking to people in the community, relating to them, and understanding the issues they might face on a deeper level is a very powerful first step to change.
Career Goals: I would like to become a Human Rights Lawyer.
Shout Out: Shout out to Micaela for helping me every step of the way with my research!
