CAHRS Launches Learning Series

Register now for the Fall Employee Mobility Course

This spring, CAHRS successfully launched a new Learning Series that is available to CAHRS partner organizations at no additional cost. The live, virtual courses are faculty-led and focus on Human Resource skill building and enhancing learning communities.

“Faculty spend time up-front testing the design of the course with CAHRS partners to ensure their research is aligned with what’s happening now in the business,” explains Karen Siewert, Director of Senior Leader Programs at the ILR School. “We want to ensure that these programs provide hands-on learning experience so that participants can roll up their sleeves and dig into tackling real-life talent scenarios and learn how practices are being leveraged across our peer organizations.”

The first course in the Learning Series, Elevating your HR Influence Using Data, just wrapped up. ILR School HR Studies Professor John Hausknecht led a cohort of thirty-seven participants, representing 27 CAHRS partner organizations, across five weeks. Participants learned frameworks that link people and HR data to business outcomes and worked in teams with other CAHRS partners to practice applying the concepts of moving from raw data to insights and action. During the final session, teams used their data visualization and storytelling with data skills to present their final case recommendations. Overall, the course was popular and well received. As one participant noted, “The course was time well spent. I learned a lot about how to look at data and present it to others in a compelling way.”

The next Learning Series course, Unlocking the Full Potential of Your Organization’s Talent Mobility Strategy, will be led by ILR School HR Studies Associate Professor JR Keller starting in October. The course will focus on building and reinforcing the business case for supporting talent mobility. Participants will learn frameworks for developing an effective internal talent mobility strategy at scale, and tactics for positioning HR managers as talent champions. The course will also explore how to manage the employee experience and expectations. Whether your organization is just getting started or has an established career strategy, there will be opportunity to gain insights and practices to address the challenges and opportunities for managing career growth to meet the evolving need of the business.
