Why CHRO Succession Planning is Getting More Challenging

Thoughts from CAHRS Academic Director

Human Resource Executive's "Why CHRO Succession Planning is Getting More Challenging" cites the post-pandemic challenges HR leaders are experiencing as one of the reasons candidates may be reluctant to pursue the HR top seat.

According to CAHRS Academic Director and William J. Conaty Professor of Strategic Human Resources, “people are looking at the CHRO job when approached and saying, ‘Do I want that job? I don’t think so. They’re kind of stepping off of that career track and saying, ‘I’m fine where I’m at’ or are leaving HR entirely to go do something different.”
