Cornell Speech dominates during the Virginia is for Lovers Speech Invitational (Again!)
During these dual swings, Cornell Speakers won big.
From February 10th-11th, Cornell’s Speech team was incredibly successful at the Virginia is for Lovers Spring Speech Invitational with two swings. Speakers competed in Harrisburg, Virginia at James Madison University, and at George Mason University in Fairfax County, Virginia.
At JMU, in the After Dinner Speaking category, Anya Khanna won 1st place. In communication Analysis, Asha Prabhat won 1st and Margot Treadwell won 4th. For Duo Interpretation, Anna Cecilia Fierro won 2nd. Furthermore, as a Duo, Asha Prabhat and Jaliah Smith won 1st place. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Eva Egeghy won 5th and Sophia Trapani won 6th. In Impromptu Speaking, Anna Cecilia Fierro won 7th, while in Informative Speaking, Eva Egeghy won 3rd. Lastly, in Program Oral Interpretation, Jaliah Smith won 4th.
All in all, Cornell’s Speech team finished as 3rd best team at JMU!
At GMU, in the After Dinner Speaking category, Margot Treadwell won 4th place. In communication Analysis, Asha Prabhat won 1st, Sophia Gerrans won 3rd, and Margot Treadwell won 6th. For Duo Interpretation, Anna Cecilia Fierro won 2nd. As a Duo, Asha Prabhat and Jaliah Smith won 1st place (again!). In Extemporaneous Speaking, Margot Treadwell won 1st, Sophia Gerrans won 3rd, and Sophia Trapani won 4th, while in Informative Speaking, Margot Treadwell won 2nd and Eva Egeghy won 3rd. In the PERS category, Anya Khanna won 6th. In Poetry Interpretation, Jaliah Smith won 1st. In Program Oral Interpretation, Hannah Quigley won 2nd, Jaliah Smith won 3rd, and Anna Cecilia Fierro won 5th. On top of her winnings in other categories, Asha Prabhat also competed in the Prose Interpretation category. Furthermore, Margot Treadwell won 3rd in Individual Sweepstakes.
Overall, Cornell’s Speech team ranked 1st place for the whole GMU tournament
