A Discussion with NLRB GC Jennifer A. Abruzzo
Wednesday, October 6, 2021
Jennifer Abruzzo, recently confirmed General Counsel of the NLRB, had previously worked for the NLRB for over two decades, including as Acting General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Deputy Assistant General Counsel, Deputy Regional Attorney, Supervisory Field Attorney, and Field Attorney. Prior to her confirmation, she served as Special Counsel for Strategic Initiatives for Communications Workers of America (CWA). As the Board’s top official managing its investigative and prosecutorial functions, Ms. Abruzzo has tremendous prosecutorial discretion in what legal issues she will emphasize in issuing complaints and litigating cases before the Board and the courts. For the first time in history, the NLRB has women in the two top leadership roles, Chair and General Counsel.
Ms. Abruzzo presented her view on current challenges and opportunities, initiatives she is considering, and future potential effects on workers, employers, unions, and the general public on the workplace protection and enforcement realm.
