Executive Director Lars Vilhuber will present his paper
Transparent, Efficient and Accessible Reporting on the Quality of Multiple Input Data Sources
Recent years have seen an increased awareness of the need for reproducibility and replicability in the scientific workflow. Transparency of the workflows and processing that yield scientific insights have been deemed insufficient in multiple domains (psychology, economics, etc.). Increasingly, the scientific community is requiring that the empirical and statistical work underlying scientific findings be made publicly accessible, otherwise deeming the findings to be lacking credibility. Official statistics and publications, as well as federal and state producers of analysis and evaluations, are not exempt from this sharper inspection by users. Transparency takes on a even greater role in light of the "Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act" of 2019. This presentation will provide an overview of the current state of transparency of the various federal agencies, judged by 21st century standards, and identify successes and shortcomings.
