Vilhuber presents insights on teaching reproducibility verification to Toronto workshop

LDI’s Lars Vilhuber will present on lessons learned from his work as the AEA Data Editor at the 2022 Toronto Workshop on Reproducibility Thursday, February 24. Applicants to the LDI Replication Lab are trained in data provenance and reproducible methods, and then apply that knowledge to real, conditionally accepted manuscripts and associated replication packages. While the activity is not part of a regular curriculum, the skills and knowledge taught through explicit training of reproducible methods and principles, and reinforced through repeated application in a real-life workflow, contribute to the education of these undergraduate students, and prepare them for post-graduation jobs and further studies. Co-authors are current Cornell graduate students Harry Son (AEM), David Wasser (Econ), Meredith Welch (PAM) as well as assistant data editor Michael Darisse (Cornell).

Vilhuber’s presentation, “Teaching for large-scale Reproducibility Verification’ comes on the second day of three for the Workshop running February 23-25. The workshop will be held virtually and is open to all with registration. Hosted by the University of Toronto’s Data Sciences Institute, this year's workshop features work on Evaluation, Teaching and Practice facets of the field.
