The Worker Institute is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hector Figueroa, president of 32BJ SEIU. Hector was a tireless advocate for working families and immigrants in New York.

Hector was a great friend and partner of the Worker Institute and worked closely with us over the years. We greatly admired his commitment to working people and his bold, visionary labor leadership. He served as an invaluable member of the Worker Institute’s Advisory Council since 2014. His guidance and advice will be sorely missed and his passing is a devastating loss for the labor community.

We express our sincerest condolences for Hector’s family and the entire 32BJ family during this sad time.
