The China Institute of Industrial Relations (CIIR) is an institution of higher education affiliated with the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and well-known for its concentration of teaching and research across a range of the social and management sciences. CIIR has a focus on courses on trade unionism, labor law, industrial relations, economic management and public administration. CIIR has 3200 students, with 219 professorial faculty members. CIIR developed from the ACFTU Cadre School and was renamed China Labor College (CLC) in 1984. In 2003, CLC was transformed into the China Institute of Industrial Relations, as part of its efforts to meet the needs of labor education and studies and union professionals in a market economy.
