Peer Coach Mental Health Ambassadors

Home Health Aide Peer Coaches participated in the “Improving the Mental Health of Home Health Aides (MINDSET)” study, the first clinical trial of its kind, conducted in collaboration with the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Fund. Peer coaches deliver health knowledge, strategies and skills to improve aides' mental health and well-being on and off the job. This work is supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Initiative on Home Care Work.

Tech-Based Demonstrations

Ian Solano-Kamaiko, a PhD student (pictured on the left at Cornell Tech), demonstrated how Meta Smart Glasses can assist Home Health Aides (HHAs) while they care for their patients at home. A simple command like “Hey Meta, take a photo,” can offer HHAs a variety of practical applications including taking hands-free pictures of patient wounds or progression of symptoms (i.e. leg swelling), allowing them to escalate their findings to the clinical team.
