What We Can Learn from Apprenticeship Readiness
On November 30, Cornell ILR’s Climate Jobs Institute will celebrate the launch of its new report, “Building an Equitable, Diverse & Unionized Clean Energy Economy: What We Can Learn from Apprenticeship Readiness,” at an in-person event at the Cornell ILR Conference Center in midtown Manhattan.
The report launch will include speeches and a panel discussion with representatives from organized labor and community organizations, including State Senator Jessica Ramos, District 13, New York State Senate and Chair of the Senate Committee on Labor; Nicole Bertran, The Edward J. Malloy Initiative for Construction Skills, Chynna Hampton from Climate Jobs Illinois – IL AFL-CIO, Gary LaBarbera from the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York; Ken Nim from the CityBuild program in San Francisco, Jay Rowell from HIRE360 in Chicago, Nicole Schwartz from TradesFutures and more. The report authors Zach Cunningham and Melissa Shetler of the Climate Jobs Institute at Cornell’s ILR School will also speak.
The launch event will highlight key findings from the report and bring leaders from across the country together to discuss how to grow and expand access to high-quality jobs in the clean energy economy. Panelists will share insight from three successful Apprenticeship Readiness programs nationwide: CityBuild in San Francisco, HIRE360 in Chicago, and the Apprenticeship Readiness Collective in New York City, showcased in the report.The report highlights best practices and recommendations for practitioners, policymakers and funders interested in apprenticeship readiness programs.
