Professional Work History:
Neil Groberg offers mediation, arbitration, training and facilitation available throughout the Northeast. Firm established in 1998. Founder Neil Groberg has over thirty-five years’ experience as an employment attorney in for profit, government and non-profit institutional settings.
Currently also teaching “Health Care Law” at Champlain College’s Burlington Vermont online B.S and Master’s Health Care Administration online degree programs. Has received merit recognition awards in a number of semesters for “exemplary teaching and real dedication to providing a high quality education experience.” Revised curriculum for course in 2018. In addition, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Vermont Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section.
Neil Groberg, before and after the inception of the Firm, has successfully resolved unique and sensitive matters while confronting almost every employment issue imaginable.
Experience also includes a broad range of legal issues that are unrelated to labor and employment law, including general corporate, commercial real estate, computer, contracts, insurance, real estate and tax law, thus providing a special sensitivity to the impact of employment and labor relations and law on overall business decisions and results.
PRIOR POSITIONS (IN REVERSE CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER)
2012-2017 Adjunct Professor at Goodwin College, East Hartford, CT teaching “Introduction to Business Law and Ethics”
2007-2009 Adjunct Professor at Quinnipiac University developing curriculum and teaching Masters level course, “Employment Law for the Non-Lawyer.”
1998- Associate Director of the Connecticut Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an organization dedicated to fight discrimination. Activities included managing responses to discrimination complaints, press and legislative relations and fundraising.
1987-1998- Associate General Counsel, Assistant Counsel of Orion Capital Companies (merged into Royal-Sun Alliance Insurance Group and now operating at Arrowpoint Capital Corporation), formerly a multi-state employer of over 2,000 employees. Also served as Secretary of Political Action Committee.
1982-1987 - Assistant Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Metro-North Railroad, a 6,000-employee unionized transportation company.
1979-1982- Assistant to the Labor Counsel New York State Office of the Special Deputy Comptroller for the City Of New York, a watchdog to the finances, contracts and labor relations of New York City.
Dispute Resolution Experience
Specific experience past and present related to mediation and arbitration-
➢ Appointed Co-Chair of the Vermont Bar Association Dispute Resolution Committee in 2017.
➢ Mediator and Arbitrator for private matters.
➢ Mediator for EEOC’s “RESOLVE” Program and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program as administered by the Scheinman Institute
➢ Numerous arbitrations conducted on behalf of the Better Business Bureau.
➢ Participation as an advocate in mediations.
➢ Appointed Facilitator between the State of Connecticut and one of its major unions to mediate, facilitate and render decisions on disputes regarding Alternative Work Scheduling.
➢ After intense training performed court-mandated mediations prior to foreclosures in Vermont.
➢ On approved mediator list for the Vermont Workers Compensation and Safety Division of the Vermont Department of Labor.
➢ On the American Health Lawyers Association and Mediate.com mediator and arbitrator panels.
➢ Completed major project related to Arbitration before the National Arbitration Forum on behalf of Legal Services Law Line of Vermont.
