Scheinman Institute Co-Hosts the 2015 International Conference on Labor Relations and Dispute Resolution in Vietnam
On March 26-28, 2015, the Scheinman Institute supported and co-hosted the 2015 International Conference on Labor Relations and Dispute Resolution in Vietnam. The event was coordinated by the Faculty of Labor Relations at Ton Duc Thang University, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The conference was designed to bring together Vietnamese and internationally-based academics, government leaders, and labor practitioners. Participants submitted twenty-two research papers, to be published in the university journal.
Vietnamese attendees included the Ministry of Labor (MOLISA) officials, the national trade union (VGCL), the national employer association (VCCI), Betterwork Vietnam, the Fair labor Association, legal aid officials, and law firms.
Foreign academics included Cornell University, Michigan State University, New York University College of law, and California State University, Monterey Bay, and Penn State University. Foreign attendees included the Solidarity Center of the AFL-CIO, APHEDA (Australian Union Movement), private labor arbitrators, the Gap Corporation, the Nike Corporation, the Arbitration Counsel of Cambodia, and Economic Officers from the US Embassy and the US Consulate.
The Scheinman Institute was represented by Adjunct Instructor Richard Fincher, who was living in Vietnam as a Fulbright Scholar in Law and Dispute Resolution.
