Pauline Jerrentrup is a PhD scholar in the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics. She completed a visiting fellowship at ILR Cornell in September – October 2023. Pauline is interested in the potential of enforceable brand agreements to address gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH) in global supply chains. Her research focuses on the Dindigul Agreement (incl. H&M, PVH & GAP along with a local women-only union in Tamil Nadu, India) and the Lesotho Agreement (incl. Kontoor Brands, Levi’s & Children’s Place, as well as local unions and women’s organisations in Lesotho), which aim to end GBVH in garment factories. Pauline's PhD project aims to support different stakeholders in aligning their efforts to effectively tackle GBVH and other labor rights abuses on production sites. Her PhD is supervised by Naila Kabeer and Sarah Ashwin.
Prior to her PhD, Pauline developed sustainability strategies as a business consultant for S&Z (Hamburg, Germany) and continues to work as a research consultant. She graduated at top of her class from her MSc. in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship and holds an MRes in Research, both from LSE, and a BA in International Business from Maastricht University.
