Eunkyoung Shin is a professor of Social Welfare at Dankook University in South Korea, also holding credentials as a licensed social worker and vocational rehabilitation counselor. She earned her doctoral degree from Yonsei University with a dissertation on factors influencing the social participation of people with disabilities in South Korea. Dr. Shin has extensive experience in applying a bio-psycho-social model of disability to domestic projects, hosted by Statistics Korea, to implement the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Functioning, Disabilities, and Health(ICF) in national policies. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to disability, aiming to integrate disability concepts into various aspects of policy and practice. Additionally, Dr. Shin has conducted research for the Ministry of Health and Welfare on community-based integrated case management for people with disabilities, seeking policy recommendations for addressing health and poverty through holistic approaches.
