Talent for Business
Cornell University's Strategic Human Resources, Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness team held its 6th Annual Symposium on Oct. 24 at the Johnson School.
"SHRLOE," as the organization is known, is ILR School and Johnson School students working together to discuss human resource issues and promote understanding of their impact on organizational effectiveness.
This year's symposium titled, Talent: Fueling Tomorrow's Business, brought to campus leading global organizations to interact with graduate students in both the MILR and MBA programs. Talent acquisition trends impacting global companies and the global economy were discussed.
The symposium's keynote speech was delivered by Stephen R. Fussell, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Abbott Laboratories.
The symposium also included two industry panels. The first centered on the challenges, outlook and execution of talent strategies. The second panel focused on trends in talent management, specifically technology and diversity in the workforce.
Panelists included representatives from American Express, Chevron, Cisco, Deloitte Consulting LLP, IBM and T. Rowe Price. Chris Collins, associate professor in ILR's Human Resource Management Department and director of Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies (CAHRS), was moderator.
This year's SHRLOE Symposium board members included: Mohammed AlSalamah, MILR '09, Faisal Khan, MILR '09, Kelli Jones, MILR/MBA '09, and Gary Gordon, MILR/MBA '09.
