Hitting the Beach
McClellan '12 tests SnappyScreen in Caribbean
On a white-sand Aruba beach, an ILR student entrepreneurial venture took a giant step forward this summer.
SnappyScreen sailed through market testing at the Aruba Marriott Resort, said Kristen McClellan '12.
More than 300 sunbathers stepped up to the device for head-to-toe sunscreen misting for four days last week.
Freestanding and weatherproof, the booth-like system releases a mist that completely covers the body to help prevent sunburn and promote even tanning.
Many of the SnappyScreen testers completed a customer survey, which McClellan will use to help direct the next step in SnappyScreen's commercialization.
Much of the planning will continue at Cornell's eLab, a business accelerator for undergraduates. McClellan has been an eLab participant since freshman year.
In 2010, McClellan and her product appeared on an MTV Networks program, "Movers and Changers," featuring student entrepreneurs.
