Nittany Honor

Ronald G. Ehrenberg will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Pennsylvania State University at its May commencement.

Cornell's Irving M. Ives Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations and Economics, Ehrenberg is a labor economist, an expert on the economics of higher education and the director of the Cornell University Higher Education Research Institute (http://www.ilr.cornell.edu/cheri/).

Ehrenberg is also a Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow, Cornell's highest honor for undergraduate teaching. He served as a member of Cornell's Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2010 and as Cornell's vice president for Academic Programs, Planning and Budgeting for three years in the 1990s.

In 2008, he received an honorary doctor of science degree from the State University of New York (SUNY). He was nominated to be a member of the SUNY Board of Trustees in 2009 and confirmed by the New York State Senate in March.

A member of the Cornell faculty since 1975, Ehrenberg also serves on the National Research Council's Committees on Research Universities and Measuring Productivity in Higher Education. He is a member of the board of trustees of Emeriti Retirement Health Solutions.
