A: The focus of my panel is on global workers' rights by using the current trends in cases from Korea, Africa, and Thailand.
Q: How does your current work or research connect to this panel?
A: My paper provides a better understanding of the employment conditions of migrant factory workers in Thailand based on the cases of two Thai multinationals in agro - food processing industry. It also implies how various policies and pressures from a range if stakeholders can life up the working conditions and promotes the rights of low wage workforce.
Q:What is significant about this work; how is it relevant to today’s issues in the workplace?
A: The two Thai multinationals demonstrate a better case scenario in terms of working conditions for migrant factory workers because of the pressures from a range of stakeholders and especially because of the concerns for consumers according to food safety standards. It also implies that one of the most important issues in today's workplace is how to control the working conditions of the subcontractors along the supply chain.
