Background and Previous Experience
David Collings is Professor of Human Resource Management at Dublin City University Business School. He has previously held faculty positions at the University of Sheffield and the National University of Ireland, Galway and visiting positions at King's College London and Nanyang Business School, Singapore. His research and teaching focuses on talent management and global staffing. David also consults widely with organisations globally on these topics. He has been named by HR Magazine as one of the Most Influential International Thinkers in the field of HRM three times (2014-2016). He has published extensively on these topics in leading outlets and was recently identified as the most cited scholar in the field of talent management. He has edited seven books including the Oxford Handbook of Talent Management with Wayne Cascio and Kamel Mellahi. This will be published in September 2017. He is currently Deputy Editor of the Journal of World Business and a former Editor-in-Chief of Human Resource Management Journal. He sits on a number of editorial boards including Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management and the Journal of Management Studies.
Current Research at ILR
During his time at the ILR School, as a Visiting Fulbright Scholar, David will be working on projects relating to global talent management and staffing. These projects include an understanding of the multilevel linkages between talent management and organisational performance in multinational corporations and a study of boomerang employees. David's faculty host is John Hausknecht, and he will also be collaborating with JR Keller. He also looks forward to potential collaborations with a range of faculty across the ILR School and wider Cornell community during his stay.
