Why did you choose the MILR program?
I had prior familiarity with many of the labor-sided faculty and couldn't pass up the opportunity to move to Ithaca and work with/learn from them.
What is your favorite part about the MILR program?
The ability to engage with a wide variety of scholars on the cutting edge of research regarding the changing world of work.
What is your favorite class so far?
New Global Social Movements with Dario Azzellini. This course was actually taught through Development Sociology, but both the content/quality of instruction are indispensable for someone interested in labor and social movements.
What is your favorite part of Ithaca?
My neighborhood is excellent. Having Ithaca Falls, the Lincoln Street Diner, and Fall Creek House in such close proximity is a real treat for me.
What advice would you give a prospective student?
Take advantage of the alumni network and do your best to have meaningful relationships with faculty that go beyond classroom instruction.
What was your summer internship organization/location?
New Bedford Coalition to Save Our Schools (NBCSOS) – New Bedford, MA.
What is a highlight from your summer internship?
Having the chance to join a team of skilled and passionate union organizers was a transformative experience. The mentorship and professional development were indispensable. I joined the team as an equal and was able to make substantial contributions the organizational mission.
