Bruyére Honored for Impact
In honor of her impact on industrial and organizational psychology’s approach to the employment of people with disabilities, Susanne Bruyére has been elected a fellow by members of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
The fellow status recognizes members whose research identifies solutions to workplace problems, whose practice changes the course of the field and whose teaching guides the next generation of industrial-organizational psychology, the scientific study of the workplace.
Academic director of the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability, part of ILR Outreach, Bruyére is a leader of national and international initiatives for improving disability employment outcomes. She has served as president or chairperson of five national and global organizations focused on improving employment outcomes and the general well-being of individuals with disabilities.
A board-certified rehabilitation counselor, she has been project director and co-principal investigator of numerous federally-sponsored research projects and other initiatives.
A professor of disability studies at the ILR School, Bruyére edited, with Adrienne Colella, “Neurodiversity in the Workplace: Interests, Issues, and Opportunities,” being published July 1 by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
The book is intended to increase awareness about making the workplace more neurodiversity inclusive and is aimed at management and business consultants, employers, along with diversity, equity and inclusion specialists, and others.
